LoadOut, a Precision Reloading and Ballistics App, Launches September 2026

June 3, 2026 — Johnson Digital Systems today announced that LoadOut, a precision reloading and ballistics app, will launch publicly on iOS and Android in September 2026, with macOS and web versions to follow. LoadOut gives handloaders a single, local-first place to record their work, run accurate ballistics, and develop loads at the range, with every recipe, firearm, and range-day session kept private on the shooter's own device.

LoadOut covers the full reloading workflow. Reloaders can log detailed records — charge, primer, case, bullet, and overall length — with photo evidence attached to each entry. Its ballistics solver is LoadOut's own — a point-mass model integrated numerically, running the G1 and G7 drag models plus 290+ measured Cd-vs-Mach drag curves, and correcting for spin drift, Coriolis, aerodynamic jump and incline. Solutions run to 3,500 yards; past 2,500 yards, and wherever a given bullet goes transonic, the app labels the solution lower-confidence on the screen rather than presenting it as settled. The Range Day mode captures shooting shot by shot, with group analysis that reports both extreme spread and mean radius, alongside scope adjustments and environmental conditions. For load development, LoadOut ships five methods — Forgiving Charge (OCW), Charge Ladder at Distance (Audette), Stable Velocity (Satterlee), Custom Ladder, and Seating Depth Tuning — and calculates per-charge statistics, including mean velocity, standard deviation, and extreme spread.

The app connects over Bluetooth to a Kestrel 5-series weather meter, a WeatherFlow WEATHERmeter, or a Shooters Global shot timer, bringing live data directly into a session, and imports a Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph session from a .fit file exported by the Garmin Connect app. LoadOut also ships with a deep reference catalog: 200+ cartridges with their published cartridge-standard specs, 400+ bullets, 150+ powders, 100+ primers, and 250+ scopes. The result is a tool with the depth a Precision Rifle Series (PRS) competitor needs to chase single-digit standard deviations, while staying approachable enough for someone working up their first load.

LoadOut is offered with a free tier and an optional Pro upgrade. The app is local-first by design: a reloader's data lives on the device, and Johnson Digital Systems operates no backend that receives it. There is no tracking and no general analytics. Cloud Backup and Cloud Sync are optional, encrypted on the device with the reloader's own passphrase, and stored in the reloader's own iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or OneDrive. The public launch is September 2026 on iOS and Android, with companion apps for Apple Watch, Wear OS, and Garmin; the macOS and web apps follow, with dates announced when they are set.
